In consultation with your surgeon the decision to operate has been taken and a date has been fixed. So now you need to make an appointment with the anaesthetist. The consultation with the anaesthetist will take place either in the emergency room, or in the admission room, or in the anaesthetics consulting room, depending on your state of health. In the case of emergency admission, it is unlikely that your anaesthetic will be administered by the anaesthetist who examined you at the consultation. The anaesthesia consultation room is situated on the upper ground floor level (RDC Haut) at the Polyclinique du Parc, next to Reception. Consultations can take place Monday to Friday from 7h55 to 12h45 and from 13h25 to 18h00. Two doctors are available for consultation every day. During the time before your admission, it is essential that you inform us of any significant change in your state of health, particularly if you are feverish or have a high temperature. In this case you must call your surgeon or the administration on 02 41 63 46 29. In your room, before you go into theatre, a nurse will probably administer your premedication. This is prescribed by your anaesthetist to help you to relax and to prepare you for the anaesthetic. In 1995, the Polyclinique du Parc de Cholet opened an outpatient surgery unit, which is situated on the lower ground floor (RCB button in the elevator). This unit has its own reception, administrative personnel, nursing staff and orderlies who all have specific training. In the post-operative phase you will either be back in your room or you will spend a short time in intensive care. During the first few days after surgery, you will be given special medical care.
