Before your anaesthetic

The anaesthesia consultation provides information on your general health in order to establish the most appropriate method of anaesthesia for you and for your operation.

Preparation for anesthesia

Before you go into theatre, a nurse will probably administer your premedication. This is prescribed by your anaesthetist to help you to relax and to prepare you for the anaesthetic.

After your anaesthetic

You will be taken back to your room after a certain time in the recovery unit. This depends on the seriousness of the operation; the type of anaesthetic; and your general state of health.
